"Go and
Multiply"
Solving
Overpopulation
Overpopulation is and
should be everyone’s concern. It’s not something that we should
blame only on the poor or the government or especially only on those
who have seemingly taken God’s directive to “go forth and
multiply” to heart.
It would be so easy to
point a finger at the poverty-stricken families with x (and counting)
number of children. And they could very well take the blame without
protest as uninformed as most of them are. But then again shouldn’t
there be enough information and facilities made available to them in
order to make the sensible choices? We cannot really think that these
people actually choose to make everyday living a burden on themselves
and on their ever-growing brood. Well, really now, that would make a
large part of the population slightly masochistic.
As for the government,
well, it’s so easy and convenient to blame them. Not to say that
the government is lacking in programs and what-not to help alleviate
overpopulation. But obviously, since the problem is still there, its
efforts are not enough. Here is where we come in. As individuals, we
are not called to any drastic sort of action so as to initiate
change. It just means living life fully and responsibly. It means
going about the day-to-day aware of the problem that faces society
today. It means making informed choices and spreading awareness when
given the opportunity. It means moving through the mundane conscious
of how you can be of help. Most importantly, it is the willingness to
take part and “be counted” when the need arises. And if some are
moved to do more, then more power to them.
After all, each and
every one of us adds to the head count that constitutes the country’s
population. We must think that being part of the problem, then we
should also be part of the solution.

I chose this article
because I found it interesting. As I search all economic issues this
one is striking to me because there are a lot of opinions of others
about Philippines as over populated country. In the society, if it is
really over populated there will be more man power in the community,
more demand better for businessmen through transportation, lands and
supplies. They will implement the RH bill in order to lessen the
population but it is a sin to kill innocents.
In my part, it’s
not easy for me to sustain my family’s needs in order to live to an
over populated country that all are affected on that situation, a
space to live is so hard to find, children without parents will
live in the streets and the salary of my parents as the source of income will be affected. I should be responsible enough to find away
how to raise my family through poverty. Unemployment in our country
that makes people decides to go abroad as OFW’s because of
financial problems and I don’t want that to happen in me because I
have plans in my future someday.
I can relate this to
myself because it is hard for me to adjust my needs and wants as a
human being who lives in an ordinary life. I suggest to who are
concern of the said over population in our country is to apply and
learn more about family planning to prevent poverty and to have a
development in the Philippines. One child policy just like in China,
that’s why their economy is progressive and that proves RH bill
must be implemented in the Philippines because Over population causes
poverty in to the country. In my opinion as I can see, it is not over
populated because some areas in the Philippines are unoccupied that
needs improvement for people to live.
